Royal Mail offers a redirection
service to the general public
which enables them to have mail
which is addressed to them
forwarded to a new address when
they move. The data for this
redirection service is held on a
computer database known as the
Royal Mail Redirection Database.
This file is only supplied to
Licensed computer bureau able to
pass the stringent quality tests
and security levels that Royal
Mail demand.
The National Change of
Address File
The redirection database
contains the names, as well as
the old and new addresses of
customers who require permanent
redirection. The National Change
of Address (NCOA) file is an
extract of this database which
currently contains in excess of
9 million records and is
expanding at an estimated rate
of 100,000 names a month.
Why use NCOA?
If you recently checked your
customer database, you would
probably have realised there
would be a significant quantity
of 'gone-aways'. These may have
been valuable customers who have
moved and not informed you of
their new address.
Using NCOA 'Tracking with Names'
service will enable you to keep
in touch with them. It is
possible to match your existing
customer list against the NCOA
file. When a match is found, the
customer's new address is added
and the records are updated. You
will then receive an updated
file of new addresses found plus
a full report.
With Intermedia you are
guaranteed our data is cleaned
against all the leading
suppression files, be it
consumer or business data you
are after.
